Mae Jemison's Story
Mae Jemison was born in 1956 in Alabama. As a child, she loved science and stars. She dreamed of going to space! Many people said girls couldn't be astronauts. Mae didn't listen. She studied hard. She became a doctor first. Then she applied to NASA. On September 12, 1992, Mae Jemison flew into space on the Space Shuttle Endeavour. She became the first Black woman in space! Mae proved that with hard work and determination, dreams can come true.
