Reading Diagrams

A diagram is a picture with labels that shows how something works or what its parts are. A diagram of a flower might label the petals, stem, leaves, and roots. A diagram of a bicycle might label the wheels, pedals, handlebars, and chain. Diagrams help us understand things that are hard to explain with words alone. They are common in science books, instruction manuals, and textbooks.
