Reading Like a Detective

Detectives use evidence, not opinions. Evidence is something you can see, hear, or prove. 'There are crumbs on the floor' is evidence. 'I think Max looks guilty' is an opinion. Good detectives (and good readers!) base their conclusions on evidence, not just feelings. When reading mysteries, look for facts, not just guesses.
