Reading with Character Voices

When reading a script aloud, give each character a different voice! Mom might sound firm but loving. Jake might sound silly and playful. How you read the dialogue shows the character's personality. Stage directions like (excitedly), (whispering), or (shouting) tell you HOW to say the lines. Reading scripts is like being an actor!
