Grasslands β Seas of Grass
Grasslands are wide-open spaces covered in β you guessed it β GRASS! They get more rain than deserts but not enough for forests to grow. African savannas have tall grass and scattered trees where lions, elephants, zebras, and giraffes live. North American prairies once had millions of bison grazing on grass that stretched to the horizon. Grasslands have rich soil, which is why many have been turned into farms.
