Building Food Chains

A food chain shows the path of energy from one living thing to the next. Every food chain starts with the SUN because the sun provides the energy that producers need. Then: sun gives energy to a producer (plant), the producer is eaten by a primary consumer (herbivore), the primary consumer is eaten by a secondary consumer (carnivore), and so on. Energy flows in one direction, from producer to consumer to top predator.
