Your heart is a muscle about the size of your fist that pumps blood through your whole body! It beats about 100,000 times a day — that is over 35 million beats a year! Put your hand on your chest and feel it — thump, thump, thump. Each beat pushes blood through tubes called blood vessels. Your heart never stops beating from before you are born until the end of your life. It is the hardest-working muscle in your body!
