Melted Rock!
Deep under the Earth, it is SO hot that rock actually MELTS into a thick, glowing liquid called magma! When magma pushes up through a volcano and comes out, it is called lava. When lava cools down, it hardens into solid rock. This type of rock is called IGNEOUS rock. The word 'igneous' comes from the Latin word for fire! Igneous rocks are literally born from fire and heat.
