To explore space, we need rockets! Rockets burn fuel to push spacecraft beyond Earth's gravity. The first person in space was Yuri Gagarin in 1961. The first people on the moon were Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin in 1969 — Neil said 'That is one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind!' The International Space Station orbits Earth right now with astronauts living and working in space!
