Barometers and Weather Forecasting

A barometer measures AIR PRESSURE — how hard the air pushes down on everything. Air has weight! Even though you cannot feel it, the air above you pushes down with a force. When air pressure is HIGH, the weather is usually clear and sunny. When air pressure DROPS (gets lower), storms and rain are usually on the way! Watching the barometer helps predict weather changes. If the pressure is falling — grab your umbrella!
