SAID is tricky because it sounds like /sed/ but is spelled S-A-I-D. The AI in SAID does NOT make the long A sound like it does in RAIN. Instead, it makes a short E sound! SAID is one of the most common words in English. Memory trick: Sally And I Danced = SAID.
