What Is Peer Review?
Peer review is when another writer reads your work and gives you feedback β and you do the same for them. It is one of the most helpful things writers do because sometimes other people notice things you missed!
Professional authors, scientists, and journalists ALL use peer review. Before a book is published, other people read it and give suggestions. Before a science paper is printed, other scientists check it.
Peer review is not about being mean or criticizing. It is about HELPING each other become better writers. Think of it as being on the same team β you both want the writing to be the best it can be.
When someone reads your writing and gives feedback, they are giving you a gift: a fresh pair of eyes that sees things differently than you do.
