Your Poetry Toolbox
You have learned FOUR types of poems! Let us review your poetry toolbox:
1. RHYMING POEMS: Poems where words at the end of lines sound the same. Cat/hat, moon/spoon, day/play.
2. ACROSTIC POEMS: The first letter of each line spells out a word going down. Great for writing about a topic!
3. HAIKU: A tiny 3-line poem from Japan. 5 syllables, 7 syllables, 5 syllables. Often about nature.
4. SHAPE POEMS: Words arranged in the shape of what the poem is about. Art and writing combined!
Each type of poem has its own special magic:
