Painting Landscapes

Every landscape painting starts with planning. Divide your paper into three zones: sky (top third), middle ground (center), and foreground (bottom). Lightly sketch with pencil where mountains, trees, or water will go. Watercolorists usually paint from back to front and from light to dark, starting with the sky and finishing with close-up details.
