Dynamics: Loud and Soft

Dynamics tell you how loud or soft to play. They are written in Italian abbreviations below the staff. Pianissimo (pp) means very soft — like a whisper. Piano (p) means soft. Mezzo forte (mf) means moderately loud. Forte (f) means loud. Fortissimo (ff) means very loud — like shouting! Dynamics give music emotion and expression.
