The War for Independence

The Revolutionary War began in April 1775, more than a year before the Declaration was signed. The first shots were fired at Lexington and Concord in Massachusetts. Paul Revere made his famous midnight ride to warn colonists that the British soldiers were coming. The war lasted eight long years.
