Daily Life in the Colonies

Colonial homes were simple. Most were made of wood with fireplaces for cooking and heat. There was no electricity, running water, or indoor bathrooms. Candles and oil lamps provided light. Families often lived in one or two rooms. Everything had to be made by hand — furniture, clothes, tools, and soap.
