Suspension and Cable-Stayed

SUSPENSION bridges hang the roadway from massive cables draped between tall towers. The main cables curve in a parabolic shape and are anchored at both ends in huge concrete blocks. Vertical cables (hangers) drop down from the main cables to hold up the deck. The Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco is the world's most famous suspension bridge. Suspension bridges can span over 2 kilometers!
