Hydropower uses flowing or falling water to generate electricity. A dam blocks a river, creating a reservoir. When water is released through the dam, it spins turbines connected to generators. Hydropower is the world's largest source of renewable electricity! The Three Gorges Dam in China is the world's largest power station, producing as much electricity as 15 nuclear reactors.
