The Topic Sentence

A paragraph is a group of sentences about one topic. Every paragraph has three parts: a topic sentence that tells the main idea, supporting details that give facts and examples, and a closing sentence that wraps everything up. Think of a paragraph like a hamburger: the topic sentence is the top bun, the details are the meat and toppings, and the closing sentence is the bottom bun!
