Everything is Made of Matter
Everything around us is made of something called MATTER. Matter is anything that has weight, which we refer to as MASS, and it also takes up space. This means that everything you can see, touch, or even weigh is considered matter! Matter can be found in three main states, which are:
• SOLID (like ice 🧊, which keeps its shape)
• LIQUID (like water 💧, which takes the shape of its container)
• GAS (like steam 💨, which spreads out to fill the space around it)
The state of matter depends on how fast the tiny particles, known as molecules, are moving. When molecules move quickly, they can spread out and fill a larger space, which is what happens in gases. On the other hand, when molecules move slowly, they stay close together, which is what we see in solids and liquids. Understanding these states helps us learn about the world around us and how different materials behave in different situations!
