Roosters vs Hens

A rooster is a male chicken, and he is the BOSS of the flock! Roosters are famous for crowing COCK-A-DOODLE-DOO at sunrise, but they actually crow all day long! Roosters are usually bigger and more colorful than hens. They have long, shiny tail feathers that curve like a waterfall, a big red comb on top of their head, and a red wattle hanging under their chin. Roosters protect the flock — if a hawk flies overhead, the rooster sounds an alarm call so everyone can hide!
