Walking and Trotting
Horses have four speeds, called gaits! The slowest is the WALK. When a horse walks, it moves one leg at a time β left front, right back, right front, left back. You can hear four separate hoof-beats: clip, clop, clip, clop. The next speed is the TROT. A trot is a bouncy, two-beat gait where the horse moves diagonal legs together. Front-left and back-right move at the same time! Riders bounce up and down when a horse trots β boing, boing, boing!
