Feeding Horses
Horses are herbivores β they eat only plants! A horse spends most of its day eating grass or hay. Horses have big, flat teeth made for grinding grass and grain. They also love treats like apples, carrots, and sugar cubes! A horse drinks 5 to 10 gallons of water every day β that is like filling a whole bathtub! Horses have a special stomach that can only handle small amounts of food at a time, so they eat many small meals all day long instead of a few big ones.
