Drawing Eyes
Eyes are the most important part of a portrait β they bring your drawing to life!
Step 1: Draw two oval or almond shapes on the eye guide line. Remember to leave one eye-width of space between them.
Step 2: Inside each eye, draw a circle for the iris β that is the colored part of your eye. What color are your eyes? Brown, blue, green, hazel? Color your irises to match!
Step 3: Inside each iris, draw a smaller black circle for the pupil. The pupil is the dark center of your eye.
Step 4: Add a tiny white dot in each pupil for the light reflection. This tiny detail makes eyes look shiny and alive!
Step 5: Draw eyebrows above each eye. Are your eyebrows thick or thin? Straight or arched? Curved gently or angled sharply? Look in the mirror and draw what you see.
Step 6: Add eyelashes if you want! Short little lines coming out from the top edge of each eye.
Do you wear glasses? Draw them around your eyes! Glasses are two circles or rectangles connected by a bridge across the nose.
