Building Pictures with Shapes
Now you know two types of shapes: geometric (perfect, regular) and organic (natural, free-form). The best artwork often combines both!
Think about drawing a garden scene. The flower pots could be rectangles (geometric), but the flowers could be organic shapes with free-form petals. The fence could be made of rectangles (geometric), but the bushes could be puffy organic shapes.
A city scene could have geometric buildings with organic-shaped trees and clouds. An underwater scene could have organic coral and fish shapes with geometric treasure chest shapes.
When you layer shapes on top of each other, you create depth! Put big shapes in the back and smaller shapes in front, and your picture will look like you can reach right into it.
