Ways to Cut Your Sandwich
Once your sandwich is built, it is time to cut it! Cutting makes it easier to eat and looks nice too. Always ask a grown-up to help with cutting!
Straight across the middle: This makes two rectangles. Simple and classic!
Diagonal (corner to corner): This makes two triangles. Many people think triangle sandwiches taste better β it is a fun food mystery!
Into four pieces: Cut straight across, then straight down. This makes four small squares β perfect for little hands!
No cut at all: Some people like their sandwich whole. That works too!
Fun fact: Did you know that restaurants and tea parties often cut sandwiches into tiny triangles or rectangles? These are called finger sandwiches because you eat them with your fingers!
When cutting, always press down firmly but slowly. A butter knife can cut most soft sandwiches. For crustier bread, you may need a grown-up to use a bread knife.
