Planning Your Show
Every puppet show needs a simple story! The best puppet stories for beginners have:
Two or three characters (not too many to juggle!)
A clear PROBLEM that needs solving
A funny or heartwarming SOLUTION
Here are some story ideas:
Two friends who cannot agree on what game to play
A puppet who is scared of the dark and a friend who helps
A puppet who lost their favorite toy and searches for it
Two puppets who try to bake a cake but everything goes wrong
A puppet who meets a new neighbor and they become friends
Pick a story that makes you excited! If YOU think it is fun, your audience will too.
The structure:
BEGINNING: introduce the characters. Who are they? What are they doing?
PROBLEM: something goes wrong or a challenge appears.
SOLUTION: the characters work together to fix the problem.
ENDING: everything is resolved. The puppets are happy (or at least smarter!).
