The Menorah: Eight Nights of Light

A Hanukkah menorah, also called a hanukkiah, is a special candle holder with nine branches. Eight branches hold candles for each of the eight nights of Hanukkah, and the ninth branch holds a helper candle called the shamash. The shamash is used to light all the other candles.
