Mixing Experiments: Predict and Test

Time for your first experiment! Follow the scientific method steps.

Question: What color will red and yellow make when mixed together?

Before you mix, make your prediction. Close your eyes and think. What color do you think will appear? Some kids guess pink. Some guess brown. Some guess orange. There is no wrong prediction because you have not tested it yet!

Now test it! In our virtual lab, squeeze red paint and yellow paint into the mixing bowl. Stir them together slowly and watch what happens.

Observe: The paint is turning orange! Red and yellow mixed together make orange. Was your prediction correct? If it was, great job! If it was different, that is great too because now you know something new!
