Magnets in Your House
Now that you know which materials are magnetic, you can go on a scavenger hunt around your house! But before you test, PREDICT first.
Look around and find objects made of different materials. For each one, ask yourself: Is this made of iron or steel? If yes, it is probably magnetic!
Here are some places to look:
- Kitchen: pots and pans, fridge, silverware, cans
- Bathroom: faucet handles, towel hooks, scissors
- Living room: table legs, lamp bases, remote control
- Your room: bed frame, zipper pulls, toy cars
Remember: look for things made of iron or steel. Stainless steel is often magnetic. Aluminum pots are not. Cast iron pans are very magnetic!
