Review: Land vs Water
Let us review everything you have learned about Earth's land and water features!
LAND FEATURES:
- Mountains: Tall peaks rising high into the sky
- Hills: Smaller raised areas, rounded on top
- Islands: Land completely surrounded by water
- Peninsulas: Land sticking into water on three sides
- Valleys: Low areas between mountains
- Plains: Large flat areas, good for farming
- Deserts: Very dry areas with little rain
WATER FEATURES:
- Oceans: The 5 giant bodies of salt water (Pacific, Atlantic, Indian, Southern, Arctic)
- Rivers: Flowing water that moves from high to low places
- Lakes: Water surrounded by land on all sides
- Ponds: Very small lakes
KEY FACTS:
- Earth is 70% water, 30% land
- There are 7 continents and 5 oceans
- The water cycle recycles water forever
- All living things need water to survive
