What Is a Neighborhood?
A neighborhood is the area around where you live. It includes your home, the homes of your neighbors, and all the places nearby that you visit regularly.
Every neighborhood is different, but most neighborhoods have some of these places:
HOMES: Houses, apartments, condos β where people live and sleep.
SCHOOLS: Where kids go to learn! Your school is part of your neighborhood.
PARKS: Green spaces with playgrounds, trees, and places to play.
STORES: Where people buy food, clothes, and other things they need.
LIBRARIES: Where you can borrow books and learn new things for free!
FIRE STATION: Where firefighters and fire trucks are ready to help.
POLICE STATION: Where police officers help keep the community safe.
HOSPITAL or DOCTOR: Where people go when they are sick or hurt.
POST OFFICE: Where letters and packages are sent and received.
PLACES OF WORSHIP: Churches, mosques, temples, synagogues β where people practice their faith.
All these places work together to make a community β a group of people living and working together!
