Cardio: Get Your Heart Pumping!
Cardio exercise (short for cardiovascular) is any activity that makes your heart beat faster and gets you breathing harder. Cardio makes your heart and lungs strong!
Examples of cardio: running, jogging, swimming, bike riding, dancing, jumping rope, playing tag, soccer, basketball, and brisk walking.
You know you are doing cardio when you feel your heart pounding and you start breathing faster. You might also start sweating, which is your body's way of cooling down (like built-in air conditioning!).
Cardio should make up most of your daily exercise. The goal is to get your heart pumping for at least 20-30 minutes. But remember, it does not have to be boring! Any active game counts as cardio.
