You do not need to be a fashion expert to look nice! Some easy rules: matching colors look good together. Blue and white, red and black, green and brown all look great. If your shirt has a pattern, wear solid-color pants. If everything is one color, that works too. The most important thing is that your clothes are clean and fit well.
