Longer or Shorter?

When you compare two things by length, you figure out which one is longer and which is shorter. To compare correctly, line up both objects at the same starting point. If one object sticks out farther than the other, it is longer. The other one is shorter. This is called direct comparison because you put the objects right next to each other.
