Ella and her grandpa are planting a vegetable garden! They dig 3 rows in the soil. In each row, they plant 4 seeds.
Row 1: seed seed seed seed (4 seeds)
Row 2: seed seed seed seed (4 seeds)
Row 3: seed seed seed seed (4 seeds)
How many seeds did they plant? We can count: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12. That's 12 seeds!
Or we can add: 4 + 4 + 4 = 12. When every row has the same number, we add that number again and again.
