Total harvest: 8 + 6 + 4 = 18 vegetables! That's a great harvest.
She gives 5 tomatoes to her neighbor. How many tomatoes does she keep? 8 - 5 = 3 tomatoes.
New total: 3 + 6 + 4 = 13 vegetables kept.
**Think About It:** Giving away means subtracting. We recalculate the total after giving some away.
