Mia Goes Shopping
Mia is so excited! Today she gets to visit the toy store with her piggy bank. She has 10 coins to spend. Every toy in the store has a price tag hanging from it. A rubber duck costs 2 coins, a toy car costs 5 coins, and a teddy bear costs 8 coins.
Mia looks at the rubber duck first. The tag says 2. She counts out loud: 'One... two!' That means she needs 2 coins to buy the rubber duck.
Prices tell us how many coins (or dollars) we need. When we see a number on a tag, we can count that many coins from our piggy bank. The bigger the number, the more coins we need!
**Think About It:** If Mia has 10 coins, does she have enough for the rubber duck that costs 2 coins? Yes! 10 is more than 2.
