Sorting Animals into Groups
The zookeeper asks the class to help sort animals! We can sort by the number of legs.
4 legs: lion, elephant, zebra, giraffe — that's 4 animals
2 legs: penguin, flamingo, parrot — that's 3 animals
0 legs (they slither!): snake, worm — that's 2 animals
Which leg group has the most animals? The 4-leg group with 4 animals!
Sorting helps us organize information. We can sort by color, size, what they eat, or where they live too!
**Think About It:** 4 + 3 + 2 = 9 animals sorted in all.
