What Does In Tune Mean?
Singing in tune means your voice matches the RIGHT notes of a song. When you sing in tune, your notes match the melody β the pattern of high and low notes that make the song sound like that song.
Imagine someone playing a note on a piano. If you sing the SAME note β not higher, not lower, but exactly the same β you are singing in tune! Your voice and the piano match perfectly.
Singing out of tune means your voice is a little too high or too low compared to the right note. This is sometimes called singing off-key. It happens to everyone sometimes, and it is totally normal!
How to practice singing in tune:
Listen first: before you sing, LISTEN carefully to the melody. Let your ears learn the tune before your voice tries it.
Hum along: humming is easier than singing words. Hum the melody first to get the notes right, then add the words.
Start low: it is easier to match pitch with lower notes than higher ones. Practice with simple, low songs first.
Sing often: the more you sing, the better you get at matching pitch. Sing in the car, in the bath, while you play β everywhere!
