You Are Made of Water!
Here is an amazing fact: your body is about 60% water! That means more than HALF of you is water. If you weigh 50 pounds, about 30 pounds of that is water!
Water is in every part of your body:
- Your BRAIN is about 75% water. Water helps you think, focus, and learn. When your brain does not have enough water, it is harder to concentrate!
- Your BLOOD is mostly water. Blood carries nutrients and oxygen to every cell in your body. Without enough water, your blood gets thicker and moves slower.
- Your MUSCLES are about 75% water. Water helps your muscles work properly so you can run, jump, climb, and play.
- Your BONES contain water too! Even your hard bones are about 22% water.
- Your SKIN is the largest organ and needs water to stay healthy and smooth.
Every single cell in your body needs water to work. Your body uses water all day long β when you breathe, when you sweat, when you go to the bathroom. That is why you need to keep refilling by drinking water throughout the day!
