How Much Water Do You Need?
Kids ages 5-8 need about 5-7 cups of water per day. That might sound like a lot, but spread throughout the day, it is easy!
Here is a simple plan:
- Morning: 1 cup with breakfast
- Mid-morning: 1 cup at school (water fountain or water bottle)
- Lunch: 1 cup with lunch
- Afternoon: 1 cup after school or during activities
- Dinner: 1 cup with dinner
- Evening: 1 cup before bed (not too close to bedtime!)
That is 6 cups β right in the middle of what you need! And some of your water comes from food too. Fruits and vegetables have lots of water in them β watermelon is 92% water!
The easiest way to track: fill a water bottle in the morning and try to finish it by lunch. Fill it again and finish it by dinner. Two water bottles and you are probably getting enough!
