Keeping Pets Clean and Healthy

Keeping your pet clean is part of being a great pet owner! Dogs need baths — some every few weeks, some once a month. Use special DOG shampoo, not human shampoo! Dogs also need their nails trimmed and their teeth brushed (with dog toothpaste, not yours!).

Cats are amazing self-groomers! They lick their fur to keep it clean. But long-haired cats need to be brushed to prevent tangles. Cats also need their litter box scooped EVERY day — would you want to use a dirty bathroom?

Fish tanks need to be cleaned regularly. The water gets dirty from fish waste and leftover food. About 25% of the water should be changed every week or two. Hamster and rabbit cages need fresh bedding at least once a week.
