Coverings Match Habitats
Every animal's covering is perfect for where it lives! Polar bears have thick white fur for the snowy Arctic. Camels have short fur that reflects the hot desert sun. Fish have smooth scales for gliding through water. Penguins have waterproof feathers for swimming in icy oceans. Each covering helps the animal survive in its home. If a fish had fur, it would be too heavy to swim! If a polar bear had scales, it would freeze!
