Desert Animals

Even though the desert is hot and dry, many tough animals call it home! Camels walk across the sand with their big, padded feet. Roadrunners zip along the ground — beep beep! Rattlesnakes slither under rocks to stay cool. Scorpions glow in the dark under special light. Jackrabbits have huge ears. Desert tortoises carry their homes on their backs. These animals are all experts at living where there is very little water.
