Cactus β The Water Saver
The cactus is the king of desert plants! Cactuses store water inside their thick, puffy stems β like a water bottle! Some big cactuses can hold enough water to fill a bathtub. Instead of flat leaves that lose water, cactuses have sharp spines. The spines also protect the cactus from thirsty animals that want to drink its water. A saguaro cactus can grow taller than a house and live for 200 years!
