Desert Adaptations
An adaptation is a special feature that helps a living thing survive. Desert animals and plants have amazing adaptations for heat and dryness! A camel's humps store fat for energy. Its long eyelashes keep sand out of its eyes. Its wide, flat feet do not sink in the sand β like built-in snowshoes for sand! Sidewinder snakes move sideways so less of their body touches the scorching sand.
