Forest Plants and Trees

Trees are the biggest, tallest plants in the forest! There are two main kinds. Deciduous trees lose their leaves in fall — their leaves turn red, orange, and yellow before dropping off. Oak, maple, and birch are deciduous trees. Evergreen trees keep their leaves all year long. Their leaves look like needles! Pine trees, spruce trees, and fir trees are evergreens. Trees give the forest shade, clean air, and homes for animals.
