Where Do Butterfly Eggs Come From?
Every butterfly starts as a teeny, tiny egg! A mama butterfly flies around looking for just the right leaf. She picks a leaf that her babies will love to eat. Then she sticks her eggs right onto the leaf. Some eggs are round like little balls. Others are shaped like tiny ovals. Butterfly eggs can be white, yellow, or even green! They are so small you might need a magnifying glass to see them. Inside each little egg, a baby caterpillar is growing. The egg keeps the baby safe and warm, like a tiny sleeping bag.
